Owen Mahoney, who most recently served a short stint as CEO of online game publisher Outspark, has been hired as the CFO of Korean online game publisher Nexon, best known for successful free-to-play games like MapleStory and Combat Arms.

The move comes less than a year after Mahoney joined Outspark. For nearly a decade prior to that, he was an SVP of corporate and business develop at Electronic Arts.

According to a Nexon statement, Mahoney has already begun to operate in his new role. He is performing his duties from Nexon's offices in both Tokyo and Los Angeles, bringing to bear past experience working in tech fields in Japan. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Asian Studies.

"Nexon is clearly on the cutting edge of the online gaming business and is changing the way games are being played," the new CFO said. "Players around the world are responding positively to the company’s business model, resulting in huge numbers of customers and expanding revenues. It’s an exciting place to be."
