Nintendo DS Remains On Top Of Japanese Hardware Sales

The Nintendo DS maintained its lead on the all-platform weekly Japanese hardware sales charts, with sales remaining relatively consistent from last week.

Tracking firm Media Create announced that sales across all platforms excluding the PlayStation 2 saw a sales bump after experiencing a slight drop last week, keeping the rankings virtually unchanged.

With all its hardware versions combined, the DS line saw the most notable sales boost, climbing to 57,582 units sold from last week's 43,708 units.

On the individual hardware versions chart, the Wii overtook the DSi's position at number four after Wii Party saw a notable increase in sales this week.

No new software hit the top 10 software sales charts this week, which may account for the consistent sales between this week's sales and last.

Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended August 15, 2010. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.)
