Best of FingerGaming: From Ghosts'n Goblins to iShoot 2

[Every week, Gamasutra sums up sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming's top news and reviews for Apple's nascent -- and increasingly exciting -- portable game platforms, as written by editor in chief Danny Cowan and authors Tucker Dean, Jason Johnson, and Ryan Hibbeler.]

This week, FingerGaming covers Capcom's Ghosts'n Goblins: Gold Knights 2, Cash Cab: Las Vegas and iShoot 2, among other notable debuts.

Also within are the lists for top-grossing, most-downloaded free and paid Apps from Apple's store, as well as reviews for Grokion and The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition.

Here are the top stories from the last seven days:

- Top-Grossing Game Apps: Madden NFL 11 Overtakes Angry Birds to Lead iPhone Sales
"EA's Madden NFL 11 takes the top spot among today's highest-grossing iPhone games, unseating Clickgamer's longtime chart leader Angry Birds. Miniclip's Fragger climbs up to third place, as Bejeweled 2 leads over Tetris at fourth place."

- Review: The Manhole - Masterpiece Edition
"Exploration carries the ominous feeling that you're walking in circles. The white rabbit's abode consists of a scant amount of rooms interconnected by ladders, tunnels, and halls leading to nowhere."

- iShoot 2 Now Available for iPhone and iPad
"Ethan Nicholas was one of the first independent developers to strike it rich in the App Store with his million-selling iShoot. This week brings the release of iShoot 2, a substantially upgraded sequel for the iPhone and iPad."

- iPhone Social Game Office Heroes Attracts 300,000 Players in One Month
"Astro Ape Studios announced that its free-to-play iPhone social game Office Heroes has seen more than 300,000 new player sign-ups since its launch on July 21st."

- Capcom Launches Ghosts n Goblins: Gold Knights 2 and Cash Cab: Las Vegas
"Capcom has expanded its App Store catalog with a pair of sequels in its Ghosts n Goblins platformer series and its Cash Cab trivia franchise."

- Top iPad Game Apps: N.O.V.A., Angry Birds, AirAttack Lead Charts
"Gameloft's Halo-inspired first-person shooter N.O.V.A. ranks as today's biggest-selling iPad game, as last week's chart winner Madden NFL 11 for iPad trails Angry Birds."

- Rovio's Angry Birds Headed to Palm, Android...and Theaters?
"Rovio chief executive Mikael Hed confirmed that the company's top-selling App Store sensation Angry Birds will premiere for Android and Palm platforms in the next few weeks, and could soon be on its way to theaters."

- Review: Grokion
"If you enjoy 'Metroidvania' games, don't discount Grokion completely. Better yet, wait for the next episode, in the hopes that many of Grokioni's problems may disappear."

- Top iPhone Game Apps: Fragger, Madden NFL 11 Emerge as Big Sellers
"Miniclipi's strategy title Fragger climbs up to second place after taking third last week, landing behind Clickgamer's Angry Birds in today's chart results."

- OpenFeint 2.6 Introduces Out-of-Network Invites, Cross-Platform Play
"Social gaming infrastructure developer Aurora Feint announced that the latest version of its OpenFeint network allows users to send SMS and e-mail game invites to any contact listed in their smartphone's address book."
