More: Console/PC

Japan has seen another extremely healthy week of sales, with some 1,919,000 units sold, representing 217% of the weekly average. Capcom have been the obvious winners this week with Biohazard (aka Resident Evil) returning to its natural home on the PlayStation with the first, and critically acclaimed, online game in the series.

The only title to eclipse this success has been Capcom’s own Rockman EXE 4 (to be known as Mega Man Battle Network 4 in the West), which if sales of both Pokémon-esque versions were combined would actually exceed Outbreak.

In hardware sales the GameCube has continued its slow increase in market share, to the point where it has now out sold the Game Boy Advance SP. The market share now stands at 49.53% for the PlayStation 2, 26.14% for combined Game Boy Advance sales, 22.79% for GameCube and 1.13% for Xbox.
