Report: Xbox 360 Hits 1.5M Sold In Japan
Report: Xbox 360 Hits 1.5M Sold In Japan
June 17, 2011 | By Mike Rose

The Xbox 360 has surpassed 1.5 million units sold in Japan, over five and a half years after it first launched, according to media reports.

According to Japanese games site Wazap, and as translated by Kotaku, the console has now hit the 1.5 million mark, after reaching a total of one million units sold back in 2009.

This figure far overshadows sales of the original Xbox console in Japan, which only managed to reach 500,000 units in its lifetime.

The Xbox 360 saw a rise in sales last year in Japan, thanks to the release of a redesigned version of the console.

Overall, the Xbox 360 has seen sales grow worldwide in the last year. The first three months of 2011 saw the console sell a record number, while Microsoft has revealed that it has sold over 55 million units in total.
