Popular iOS Game Cut the Rope Debuts On Android

ZeptoLab's popular iOS game Cut the Rope made the transition to Android devices Friday as a free, ad-supported app.

This ad-supported version is a timed exclusive through independent mobile app store GetJar for the next week. A similar arrangement was made for another popular iOS-to-Android port, Burn the Rope, earlier this month.

"Demand for Cut the Rope on Android has surged since we first launched on the iOS platform last year," said Efim Voinov, CTO at ZeptoLab. "We have worked diligently to bring the same level of quality gameplay and fun to Android users that iOS users have been enjoying over the past year."

Cut the Rope has spent a significant amount of time on the App Store's top app lists, including a stint at the number one slot, since its debut last October. It ranked seventh in paid apps as recently as this week.

GetJar's app shop is approaching 2 billion downloads, according to the company. Gamasutra recently explored GetJar unique revshare model -- along with those of other App Store alternatives -- in a recent feature.

After the week-long exclusive period is over, Get the Rope will be available through alternate means, GetJar said.
