The second entry in Ubisoft's massively successful
Just Dance series is the all-time best-selling Wii game not published by Nintendo itself.
That's according to a statement released by Ubisoft Thursday. While exact sales figures were not provided for
Just Dance 2, the company did say that the franchise -- which includes both main titles and the spin-off
Just Dance Kids, all of them exclusive to the Wii -- has sold 14 million units worldwide to date.
"Ubisoft is incredibly proud of the monumental success
Just Dance 2 has had the past nine months," said Ubisoft's North American president Laurent Detoc. "The game’s outstanding performance solidifies the
Just Dance brand as a pop culture phenomenon."
While exact figures are not available, most estimates place Sega's
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games at the former top slot for third-party titles. That series sold
19 million copies worldwide as of April.
The company is set to release
Just Dance Summer Party next week on the Wii, and a multi-platform
Just Dance 3 -- which includes support for Microsoft's Kinect and Sony's Move controllers -- this October.
Just Dance 2 was the tenth best-selling game in the United States last month,
according to the NPD.
