Hoping to attract publisher attention, a new in-game social media client that brings Twitter, Facebook, Gmail and more to online games has begun its public beta.
Called Overwolf, the client overlays social media applications on top of PC games, as seen in this demonstration video
"Publishers are looking for ways to ignite the viral potential of online games, but integration has been difficult, especially with all of the demands of operating live titles," said Uri Marchand, CEO of Overwolf, an Israeli start-up.
"With Overwolf, any game publisher can integrate social media and have it just a click away,” added former Xfire GM Chris Kirmse, who works closely with the company. "They have achieved the quality of user interface that I was striving to build at Xfire."
The public beta is available on Overwolf's official website
