GamePro Magazine Reduces Frequency For First Time In 22 Years

IDG Publishing's consumer-facing GamePro magazine will reduce its output for the first time in its twenty-two year history, switching from a monthly to a quarterly publication later this year.

As reported by Industry Gamers, the magazine is undergoing a redesign that will see an increase of both page size and count, a higher production value, and an increased price tag at $9.99 per issue.

The magazine's first issue debuted in April 1989, and its associated website, which continues to post daily news and features about video games, first appeared in 1998.

"Every aspect of GamePro’s new design represents a decision that our enormously passionate editorial team debated and obsessed over until we got it exactly right," said VP of content Julian Rignall, who took the publishing reigns late last year following the departure of John Davison.

The final monthly issue of GamePro will be its October, 2011 edition, and the first quarterly edition will be its Winter 2011 issue, shipping November 8.
