Remastered Crysis Coming to Consoles As Digital Download

September 9, 2011 | By Mike Rose

Crytek, developer of the first-person shooter Crysis series, announced today that it is bringing a modified version of the original title to Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network later this year.

This downloadable version of Crysis will be remastered for consoles via the CryEngine 3, with new lighting effects and visual optimizations.

The game will be available to download for either console next month, with a price of 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360, and $19.99 on PlayStation 3.

Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, said, "We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality - and still is for many gamers even four years later."

"By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming."

When sequel Crysis 2 was released earlier this year, it received critical acclaim from the press, and quickly went on to top the UK sales charts.
