Since its debut this April, Marvel Super Hero Squad Online -- the kid-friendly MMO from Gazillion Entertainment and The Amazing Society that stars characters from the Marvel Comics stable of IP -- has reached 1 million registered players.

Following the game's launch, The Amazing Society has updated the game with new social hubs, playable heroes, and missions featuring Marvel characters like the Juggernaut and Dormammu, nemesis of Doctor Strange. Much like other kid-focused online games such as Wizard101, Super Hero Squad Online is free-to-play, and offers a subscription model for players to unlock additional content.

"The fact that this free-to-play online game has reached over a million people is a testament to the time and effort the team has committed to making Super Hero Squad Online a fun and constantly engaging experience," said TQ Jefferson, vice president of games production at Marvel Entertainment.

"Thanks to our players, the world of Super Hero Squad Online is growing at an amazing rate," said The Amazing Society vice president Jay Minn. "We'll keep adding new content and characters all the time, it's truly wonderful to see the game alive with over a million registered players having fun brawling, battling, exploring and making super heroic friends!"

In July, Gazillion announced a partnership with German media corporation ProSiebenSat.1 Digital to bring the game to Europe.
