Fastest-growing Facebook games: From Angry Birds to Fruit Ninja Frenzy

[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games according to monthly active users, looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.]

Zynga's Hidden Chronicles continues to hold the stop of the fastest-growing game on Facebook. A month and a half after its launch, the game already has 33.1 million players, with nearly 3 million of them trying out the game in the last week.

It's just 100,000 users behind Texas HoldEm Poker in terms of total audience size. When Hidden Chronicles surpasses that title, it will be the second largest game on the social network, behind CityVille's 46.8 million players.

After years of thriving on iOS and just about ever other platform out there, Angry Birds finally made its debut on Facebook last week. The Rovio Mobile-developed title is already growing fast and has picked up 1.3 million active users.

Another mobile hit, Fruit Ninja Frenzy by Halfbrick Studios, was the third biggest gainer last week after adding 1 million players for a 4 million total. It's followed by Wooga's Diamond Dash, which is 900,000 users stronger and has a 16.4 million total.

Bubble Island, also a Wooga game, took the #5 spot with 700,000 players and a 12.1 million total. Tetris Online's Tetris Battle had 700,000 new users last week too, and a bigger total of 14.7 million.

As #8, there's King.com's Bubble Witch Saga with 600,000 new players and a 14.5 million total. After that there's Chinese developer Happy Elements' My Kingdom with 530,000 new users and a 1.2 million total.

And then we have four games that picked up 400,000 new players last week: Cie Games' Car Town (6.2 million total), Manuel Otto's Stick Run (3.8 million total), Playmonk's Sultan Bubble (2.6 million total), and Peak Games' Happy Farm (6.8 million total).

The full list of the top 20 fastest growing Facebook games along with exact monthly active user counts, are as follows:
