Gaming News Round-Up: March 1st, 2005

- 50 Cent, the popular rapper who recently had a hit with his debut album Get Rich or Die Trying, will star in his own game from Vivendi Universal called 50 Cent: Bulletproof, it's been confirmed. The game's name plays off 50 Cent’s violent image and remarkable ability to survive gunshot wounds; in the game, he thoroughly lives up to that image by gunning down an army of bodyguards on his quest to eliminate drug dealers in New York City. "I'm out to destroy the competition and my video game is no different," said 50 Cent, "I plan to shake up the video game world like I did the rap world."

- Toy and game manufacturer Bandai has announced the formation of a Bandai Games subsidiary to handle the company’s videogame projects, recent examples of which include Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and InuYasha: Secret of the Cursed Mask. The subsidiary company will replace the internal division of Bandai America Inc. that was formerly responsible for Bandai’s videogame output. “The mission of Bandai Games Inc. is to know what the North American market wants and deliver the best new games here,” said John Soller, Bandai Games’ marketing manager. The new company will release One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, D.I.C.E., and Zatch Bell on multiple consoles in 2005.
