Gaming News Round-Up: April 8th, 2005

Today's round-up includes Francis Ford Coppola's displeasure at EA's The Godfather video game, as well as a 'stylish' new NASDAQ ticket symbol for publisher Majesco.

- Director Francis Ford Coppola is reportedly upset over the forthcoming Electronic Arts video game version of his The Godfather film series. Appearing on AMC's Sunday Morning Shoot Out TV series, Coppola commented of the recently announced game: "I [initially] knew nothing about it. They never asked me if I thought it was a good idea." However, he was able to see the game at a later date, and further claimed: "They use the characters everyone knows ... and then for the next hour they shoot and kill each other. I had absolutely nothing to do with the game and I disapprove."

- Publisher Majesco Holdings Inc. has announced that it will officially change its name and ticker symbol on April 11, 2005. The company, best known for the BloodRayne series and its recently aggressive expansion with products such as Psychonauts, will undergo a slight name change to Majesco Entertainment Company, but will now trade under the distinctly evocative NASDAQ ticker symbol 'COOL.' The changes are apparently intended to "accurately reflect the Company’s identity as a diversified digital entertainment company", according to the company.
