Mexican Electronic Game Show Reaffirms Dates, Venue

The fourth annual Electronic Game Show, held in Mexico City, has reaffirmed its rapidly approaching show dates, and is set to occur from October 21-23rd. The consumer and trade event will be held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, and is expected to host 30,000 attendees during its 3-day span.
One thing that separates the Electronic Game Show from other major electronic game shows is its emphasis and efforts on original game purchases, in an effort to combat widespread game piracy in Mexico. The EGS will be promoting original game purchases through a program called "Take Control," which began September 15. Consumers who bring proof-of-purchase for original games to participating Mexican retailers will receive rewards such as discounted EGS tickets or access to the VIP areas of the show. The promotion lasts until October 23rd, the last day of the show.
Apart from anti-piracy measures, the EGS will offer 30 in-development games from a variety of developers such as Capcom, Konami, EA, Ubisoft, THQ, Namco, and Atari. It will also feature the Grand National Final of the World Cyber Games, in which the winners will receive a trip to the world finals in Singapore to represent Mexico in the world championship.
"This year, the EGS will showcase more than 30 titles in development and not available to the general public. This consolidates the EGS as a videogame industry backed and and supported event in the world world," said Jorge Lizarraga, CEO of Oelli, the EGS organization company.
