Tiger Reveals U.S. Gizmondo Launch Lineup

The Gizmondo portable gaming system, due to be released in the U.S. on October 22nd, has had its launch lineup announced. Tiger Telematics, developers of the system, lists 14 games scheduled to be released on day one of the system's launch, a significant improvement over the two that accompanied the Gizmondo's European debut in March.

The roster of games includes those two titles, Trailblazer and Fathammer Classics, as well as Classic Compendium 1, Classic Compendium 2, the Electronic Arts-licensed FIFA Soccer 2005, Gizmondo Motorcross 2005, Hockey Rage 2005, Interstellar Flames 2, Point of Destruction, Pocket Ping Pong 2005, the SCi-licensed Richard Burns Rally, the also EA-licensed SSX 3, Sticky Balls, and Toy Golf.

After the initial fourteen, another seven are promised in the weeks after the launch, including gang warfare sim Colors, which uses the system's much-touted GPS feature. Tiger also promised other titles such as Chicane, Hit & Myth, Conflict: Vietnam, and a version of classic gory racing title Carmageddon in forthcoming months. The Gizmondo will sell for $229 for an advertising-supported version, and $399 for a GPS-enabled, non-ad version at launch, with games ranging from $19.99 to $39.99.

"This line-up has something for everyone," said Tiger Telematics CEO Mike Carrender. "We're thrilled to be introducing the first to titles under the co-publishing partnership with EA to the U.S. audience, and development is continuing at pace with titles from our other publishing partners, SCi, Microsoft Games Studios, and Disney Buena Vista."
