Microsoft Plans Xbox 360 Launch Events

Microsoft officials in the U.S. have hinted at details of an unusual launch event for the Xbox 360 in the U.S., apparently scheduled to take part in an unnamed desert location. The event is currently being promoted by viral marketing site Hex168, whose descriptions are so far purposefully vague.

In an interview with consumer game site Team Xbox, an unnamed Microsoft official describes the launch event as “Burning Man meets E3”, with the opportunity to “play the complete launch line-up for the first time and get ‘sneak’ peeks’ on several never before seen games”. The Xbox’s primary launch party was in New York City’s Times Square, and it is unclear whether there will be other, more accessible, launch parties at the same time as the North American launch on November 22nd.

At the same time Microsoft officials in the UK have announced a four city tour for the Xbox 360, to take place just prior to its European launch on December 2nd. The tour is promoted as being 360 hours long and will start in Glasgow, Scotland on November 4th, before moving to English cities Birmingham on November 11th, Leeds on November 18th and London on November 25th.

The tour will apparently include numerous playable demo pods, including early chances for the UK public to play titles including Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power and Project Gotham Racing 3.
