VU Games Announces Major Eragon Game Deal

Vivendi Universal Games has announced that the company will publish the video game adaptation of Eragon, the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox feature film, and one of this holiday season's intended blockbusters, inspired by Christopher Paolini's best-selling fantasy novel, featuring Edward Speleers, Djimon Hounsou and Robert Carlyle.

The action adventure game tells the story of a young farm boy named Eragon whose destiny is revealed with the help of a dragon, and is being developed by Stormfront Studios for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PC. Amaze Entertainment is handling the handheld versions, with each platform getting a completely different type of game. Eragon for the Game Boy Advance will be a story-driven RPG, while the version developed for the Nintendo DS will be more of an action RPG with touch screen spell casting. The PSP version will be an aerial combat game, featuring four person multiplayer.

"Christopher Paolini's amazing fantasy worlds, characters and adventures portrayed in Eragon offer fans of the genre an opportunity to step into Eragon's world and live out the dragon rider legacy," said Bruce Hack, CEO of VU Games. "Eragon is sure to be one of the most anticipated movies of 2006 and we are excited to bring this rich story to gamers worldwide."

All versions of Eragon are scheduled to ship in November 2006. The movie will arrive in theaters on December 12, 2006. The game will make its debut at E3 in May.
