UK's Top Mobile Games For March Ranked

UK trade association ELSPA has published its chart of the most downloaded mobile phone games for March 2006 in the United Kingdom. The chart compiles information supplied by mobile phone providers 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, and Vodafone, and gives a continuing look at what UK mobile game consumers are actually purchasing.

While the list was topped by Jamdat's (and now EA's) Tetris mobile title last month, it was Ifone and Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog that raced to the number one spot for March, knocking Tetris into the number two position, and showing the continuing popularity of simple, classic licenses to mobile phone gamers.

Elsewhere in the chart, Electronic Arts continued its dominance, with cell phone games ranked at number three (the Codemasters-licensed but Jamdat/EA-published LMA Manager 2006), number five (The Sims 2), and number seven (John Carmack's Doom RPG).

The top ten, for which similar cross-carrier mobile game charts are not yet officially available to the public in North America, was filled out by Gameloft's Block Breaker Deluxe at number four, I-play's 24: The Mobile Game at number six, a mobile version of THQ's Worms at number eight, and Infusio's Zoo Tycoon 2 Mobile at number nine. Block Busters by Player X rounded out the list in the tenth position.
