Game Marketers Announce Senet Award Winners

The Promax/BDA marketing association has announced the winners of the inaugural Senet Awards for game marketing, which took place alongside MI6: Marketing Interactive '06, a new conference specifically designed for video game marketers, held last night in San Francisco.

Corporate in-house marketing and promotion teams, advertising agencies, small creative companies, design firms and independents involved in the marketing and promotion of interactive entertainment were all eligible to submit entries for award consideration.

Marketing efforts centered on titles released by Activision took home the most awards from the event, including the company's Tony Hawk Secret Skatepark Tour, whach was awarded as the best PR Piece at the event, and the award for the Best Promotional Item, which was given to the Trailer Park Agency for its Activision Gun branded "severed ear" .

Other game-related awards included the Rocket Award, which was given to Lin Leng of THQ for branding work on Company of Heroes; the Hall of Fame Award, which was given to Will Wright to recognize his creation of The Sims and the upcoming game Spore; the award for Campaign of Distinction, which was given to Activision for Tony Hawk; and the award for Creative Excellence, which was given to French developer and publisher Ubisoft.
