Java mobile porting software company Mobile Distillery announced the release of version 3.5 of its Celsius J2ME Porting and Optimizing software solution.

Aimed at developers and publishers of J2ME mobile applications, Celsius addresses the time and expense associated with the porting of applications to more than 350 mobile devices. Celsius aims to dramatically reduce porting time and subsequently accelerate time to market by a factor of two to three, giving customers competitive advantage as well as significant cost savings.

The new version adds several features, including the ability for users to include own APIs, classes or external resources; extensive debug and device monitoring tools, powerful emulators for testing; and HTTP connectivity for accessing remote servers. In addition, Celsius provides a tool for publishers to manage outsourced projects. Celsius V3.5 has built-in publisher oriented asset management features, which give greater overall consistency and the ability to clearly define specific guidelines and settings to partner developers.

Mobile Distillery is holding a series of free Celsius V3.5 training sessions for new and existing users in Marseilles - France, on July 26 & 27. The sessions will focus on developing, debugging and porting with Celsius V3.5, accelerating mobile application timing-to-market and highlighting next generation Porting tools.

"The latest version of Celsius is the cumulative work of five years technology development," commented Eric Lemarechal, co-founder and CEO, Mobile Distillery. "As the number of devices proliferates and the amount of post production work required to deliver applications to operators increases, developers and publishers need proven and reliable solutions to take care of fragmentation. Significant effort has been put into V3.5 to give developers more visibility to device level bugs and characteristics along with the tools necessary to manage them."
