Edge, the world’s most respected
multi-format videogame brand, today announces the appointment of
Neil Long as Editor of
Edge-Online
, whilst
Nathan Brown moves to become Games Editor across
the whole brand.
Neil joined Future in 2008 from MCV where he was Editor. Since
then he has worked as Editor-in-Chief of
Future’s Nintendo Group and was most
recently Special Projects Editor – Games, where he
successfully relaunched
iGamer as a global digital magazine. Nathan has
worked on
Edge since December 2010, first as freelance
News Writer before being made Editor of
Edge-Online
in May last year. Neil will report into Tony Mott and
Nathan will report into Alex Wiltshire.
Edge-Online
has seen a 24% increase in traffic year-on-year,
recording 324,000 unique users in December 2012.*
Rich Keith, Publisher of
Edge, says: “Appointing someone of
Neil’s experience and background shows how serious we are in
establishing Edge-Online as a key resource of the global games
industry. With Neil’s leadership we will be continuing to
improve the site, offering unrivalled insight into how games and
made and the people that make them.
“Nathan moving to Games Editor means we can cement our
multi-channel approach within the team, delivering our high quality
content to wherever our audience is at any particular
time.”
Neil says: "I'm delighted to be taking on this
role at such an exciting time for the game industry. Edge has
always been about the future of interactive entertainment and I'm
looking forward to building on the terrific work which has already
been done to ensure that Edge-Online becomes the destination site
for anyone looking for intelligent insight, analysis and
opinion."
Nathan says: "Being asked to lead Edge's review
and preview coverage is a dream come true. With more releases,
in more genres, on more platforms than ever before - and new
hardware on the horizon, of course - it's a hugely exciting
time for games. I can't wait to get started."
As part of these moves Andy Hartup’s role at
Future evolves to include responsibility for
mobile and
iGamer. Previously Editor, Special Projects
– Free-to-Play, Andy now becomes Editor, Special Projects
– Mobile and Free-to-Play.
Neil, Nathan and Andy take up their news roles with
immediate effect.
