27 February 2013 - Hampshire, UK/... Deep Silver today revealed more information about the RPG elements in Sacred Citadel. With these RPG elements plus unique weapon combinations, mounts, towns, a multitude of combat options and more aspects still to be revealed, Sacred Citadel offers unsurpassed depth in the genre of side-scrolling action brawlers.

Sacred Citadel offers a wealth of roleplaying features that help to spice up this action brawler. Players can battle with up to three characters out of a total of four, and all of them can be leveled up during the progress of the game and acquire new skills. Since Sacred Citadel is also a unique co-op experience, the different ways you can develop a character plays an important role for the whole group. The four characters (consisting of the Khukuri Shaman, the Ancarian Ranger and the Safiri Warrior and a yet-to-be-revealed secret character) have their own skill sets that grant them stronger class attacks depending on their experience level, which come to life when used in conjunction with each other.

Throughout the game the characters can pick up a host of new equipment: weapons that can be used to beef up their attack values or armor to improve their defense stats. Cannot decide between that sturdy mace that stuns your enemies so beautifully but also want to take that sharp sword with you to pierce your foes? No problem! Sacred Citadel allows for custom weapon combinations.

Bolster your character’s stash with the treasures that he finds on his mission and spend it at one of the many merchants in town.  Players will also have a number of tasty potions that can be used at will, to regain health or refill the power meter to unleash devastating special attacks. All of this creates great depth, diversity, and most important of all, freedom, letting warriors approach the numerous challenges that they will encounter on their quest to defend the lands of Ancaria any way they wish.

Will your character be strong enough to take down the ultimate boss? It’s up to you to decide!

About Sacred Citadel:

The side-scrolling action brawler Sacred Citadel is a new standalone title that is set in the rich universe of Sacred. Sacred Citadel will reinvent the familiar arcade feel of classic brawlers while setting a new standard for the future of side scrolling hack and slash games.

There are several playable character classes, such as the Safiri Warrior, the Ancarian Ranger and the Khukuri Shaman, each with a different skill set that can be further individualized through RPG features and collectible items. Each character will also have the ability to dual-wield two exchangeable weapons, use combo attacks and perform double jumps. All of which combines into a fluid and unique arcade game experience with sophisticated graphics and spectacular effects. The player will also be able to ride mounts, use war machines and spend his hard earned cash in towns all over the world of Sacred Citadel.

Sacred Citadel will also offer an engrossing multiplayer mode: as up to three players can join forces against their enemies in seamless drop-in/drop-out coop mode.

The events in Sacred Citadel will act as a prologue to the next chapter of the Sacred story and will unveil an intriguing secret about the Seraphim that will directly relate to the action RPG Sacred 3, currently in development by keen games and to be released in 2013.

Sacred Citadel will be out in 2013 as a digital download title for the PlayStation ® 3 computer entertainment system through PLAYSTATION ® Network, through Xbox LIVE ® Arcade for the Xbox 360 ® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and through Steam and other ESD partners.

Sacred Citadel is being developed by Southend Interactive.
