Supercell, King, Rovio and other mobile games industry
leaders to join Barcelona Games Conference
BARCELONA (SPAIN) – June 10, 2013. Expanding the influence of an event that has traditionally closer to other game platforms, Gamelab Barcelona includes since 2012 a section of conferences, workshops and panels specifically dedicated to the mobile games business. The list of participants and speakers confirmed for this year includes more platforms, publishers and developers than ever before, featuring global leaders like Supercell, Rovio, King, Chartboost, ARM, Windows Phone, RIM, Gamevil, Line, Social Point, Wooga, Digital Legends, etc.)
The mobile content section will start on June 26 th with the conference offered by Supercell’s Partnership Lead, Michail Katkoff. During his talk, Katkoff will explain what is Supercell's “Secret Sauce”, making them have 8.5 million daily players generating $2.4 million every day and sometimes more. With world hits like "Clash of Clans" or "Hay Day!", Supercell is one of the current kings of mobile gaming.
Following up, Rovio’s Jussi Immonen will take the stage to explain how the makers of the Angry Birds franchise are now helping developers publishing and marketing their games to hundreds of millions of fans around the world.
As it has already been announce by the Finish company, one of the first games published under the Rovio Stars program will be "Tiny Thief", a beautiful medieval adventure featuring stealth-based puzzles created by the Catalonian studio 5Ants.
Singstar's franchise creator, Paulina Bozek, will also participate at Gamelab Barcelona as part of a very interesting panel on mobile games innovation. The founder of Inensu will be sharing the stage with other world-class experts like Wilhelm Taht (COO @ Publishing Playground), Volker Hirsch (Global Head of Business Development Games @ RIM), Benoit Auguin (Founder and MD @ Break First), Chris James (MD @ Steel Media & Pocket Gamer), Trevor Klein (Head of Development @ Somethin' Else) and Corey King (Chief Executive Artist @ Zen Fri).
Mobile game challenges in monetization and distribution, and convergence between social and mobile gaming will be other topics to be discussed during the conference. Panels will feature senior representatives from highly successful mobile studios and publishers like Creative Mobile, Gamevil, Digital Legends, Wooga, Playspace, From the Bench and Akamon, among others.
Attendees will also have the chance of attending several workshops and activities organized by ARM, Windows Phone, Basho, Autodesk, Miniplay or Amazon, among other partners.
Closing the day, the leading games-only technology platform for mobile games Chartboost, will host a mobile game developer competition where five teams will be selected to present on stage a demo of their game and receive valuable feedback from a panel of industry experts from Rovio, SocialPoint and PLGND. The winners will have the chance to attend the next Chartboost University in San Francisco.
