PLAYDEK’S HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED AGRICOLA CHALLENGES PLAYERS TO BUILD THE MOST PRODUCTIVE FARM; PLOUGH, SOW AND REAP VICTORY

CARLSBAD, Calif., June 13, 2013 – Playdek, the award-winning, leading digital board game developer and publisher, today announced the launch of Agricola, the ultimate farming strategy game and a global favorite with hobby gamers for its ability to draw players into its simple, yet deep world of sowing and reaping. Available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Agricola tests players’ strategy skills by asking them to make choices necessary to build the most productive family farm.

To support the new game line and offer players even more options, this fall Playdek will also launch two Agricola in-app expansions -- the Interactive and Complex Decks.

Based on the board game by the renowned German designer Uwe Rosenberg and Lookout Games, Agricola is a turn-based game suitable for families, as well as serious strategic players. Easy to learn, the app can be tailored for easier or more advanced play for board gamers familiar with the series. Its message of sustainable living is sure to appeal to all ages.

Set in 17 th century Europe, players begin the game with a farmer and a spouse, a two room hut and an empty plot of land.  The challenge is to use your family members to gather resources in order to grow crops, raise animals and build the most productive farm with a balance of farm goods by the end of the game.

“There’s been a lot of anticipation for Agricola and we are so excited to launch this summer when families will be looking for great ways to entertain themselves while traveling or staying at home,” said Joel Goodman, CEO, Playdek.  “While the game is easy to jump into, it has the depth of features gamers expect and more challenging play to keep more advanced players hooked. It’s a subtly addicting game that will appeal to a wide audience of players.”

More challenges and strategies are available when players opt to add occupations and minor improvements into the mix. Add a baker or butcher to the family or an extra oven or workshop to the home and reap more—but remember, while a bigger family can mean more hands to help, players will have more hungry mouths to feed at harvest time.

“Playdek has set a new benchmark for iPad gaming with Agricola,” said Hanno Girke, Owner, Lookout Games. “The company has done a tremendous job translating the features of the game for tablets and mobile. Playdek continues to raise the bar in this genre.”

Agricola can be played offline or online. Offline options include pass-and-play Family Game or Basic Game modes or single-player mode against the included computer opponents. A Solo Series, found in the original board game, lets players compete without an opponent but against a series of increasing score goals. Online options include asynchronous (turn-based) or real-time play against others, as well as a Quick Match feature that allows players to set the game type for others to join. A new Matchmaking feature introduces player rankings. For those new to Agricola, several game tutorials and features such as the Rule Book and Card Gallery make it easy to get started.

The game supports seven languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese. To see images, technical requirements and more information, please visit, www.playdekgames.com or the App Store. (SRP $6.99). Age Rating 12+.  Available this fall, the two new in-app expansions will have a promotional launch price of $.99 each.
