100% Indie is teaming up with
Over the Air to support tech creativity in its
rawest form, attending as a keynote speaker and providing the prize
for the event’s Best Game Award.
Over the Air, which is in its sixth year, is an opportunity for
hardcore hackers and coders to come together and share ideas and
inspiration in the amazing venue of Bletchley Park – home of
the WWII Enigma codebreakers.
Joining Samsung at the event, the 100% Indie team will provide
the 600+ attendees with info on new devices and software
development kits, as well as introduce how the initiative came
about, what its goals are, and how the program has helped thousands
of games launch on Samsung's high-quality digital marketplace.
Attendees will then be able to talk with members of 100% Indie's
business development team about opportunities on offer through the
initiative, and to its promotions team on a one-to-one basis about
how to achieve visibility for their games and their studio in an
overfull smartphone gaming sector.
The Best Game Award is part of the ‘Hack Day’ event,
which invites attendees to demonstrate a new technological or
thematic challenge and solution. The prize will include the
opportunity to meet with Chris Byatte and Joe Wee of Chillingo and
100% Indie (and publishers of legendary games such as
Angry Birds and
Cut The Rope), to share ideas and gain insights into how
to get started and succeed in the world of mobile gaming.
“We’re delighted to be supporting such a well
established and yet indie event as this,” said Joe Wee from
100% Indie. “The whole ethos of Over the Air is about
discovering and nurturing creativity and innovation, which ties in
perfectly with our approach to gaming. Inventions from past events
have led to real career breaks for many attendees and it's an
excellent hub for research and development, as well as a natural
fit for gaming.”
The 100% Indie initiative is a collaboration between Chillingo,
the leading indie mobile games publisher and division of Electronic
Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. The
partnership plans to fuel the mobile games developer community and
provide unparalleled revenue opportunities*. Spearheaded by
Chillingo founders, Chris Byatte and Joe Wee, 100% Indie aims to
inspire, foster and support indie developers around the world.
Any developers interested in joining 100% Indie should visit
www.100PercentIndie.com and submit their games
for consideration to Samsung’s mobile apps marketplace,
Samsung Apps. The 100% Indie team will review all games to ensure
