Holotech Studios Launches Expression Mo-Cap Software Called FaceRig To Mass Markets On Indiegogo

[This unedited press release is made available courtesy of Gamasutra and its partnership with notable game PR-related resource GamesPress.]

Holotech Studios brings expression capture to the masses with FaceRig, the alter ego animation program that allows users to embody digital characters and instantly record movies, web-chat or stream their performance online even while playing games.

BUCHAREST, ROMANIA (December 17, 2013) - Until Holotech Studios and Visage Technologies linked arms to create the world’s first mass-marketed expression capture software who ever dreamed they could embody a digital character, literally, by just using a webcam at home? Now a product exists that can turn a simple webcam setup into a real time CGI treasure trove and produce outstanding animations via expression capture and digital puppeteering.  Simply stated, a user can start their webcam and immediately appear as their chosen animated avatar with a full expression palette to anyone watching the video stream. To become digital actors on a virtual movie set, all consumers have to do is help get the software program development off the ground in an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign launched to support FaceRig’s finalization and distribution at an approachable low price.

Celebrating the launch of their crowdfunding campaign as well as their website Holotech Studios hopes to bring the fun of emotion capture to a wide audience and spark creativity.  Targeting iOS platforms as well as computers FaceRig will be sold online.  The Indiegogo crowdfunding perks will allow supporters to get the software for an extremely low price and begin using the open creation platform to build and trade their own digital actors and also to provide feedback that will shape the final FaceRig feature set.

About Holotech Studios:

Holotech Studios is an indie software company based in Bucharest, Romania,  founded by five veterans in the game development industry.  Their flagship product FaceRig is a software program that creates digital alter egos in real time CGI driven by expression capture and digital pupeteering controls.

For webcam based face capture Holotech Studios uses the state-of-the-art face tracking engine provided by Visage Technologies.
