"Ground Pounders" Has Been Deployed!
Ground Pounders, the new strategy wargame from Kerberos Productions, has been deployed! Mac, PC, Android and Linux players can get their combat boots dirty this weekend playing the turn-based game of futuristic tanks, aircraft and infantry! The time has come to fire up your device of choice to reach out and destroy your friends and foes alike in cross-platform multiplayer or test your command skills against the challenging AI in singleplayer!
The game on release day includes two playable campaigns for two different factions; Humans and a bug-like alien race called the Hivers. In single-player or multi-player, play on the hex-based battlefields, just like classic tabletop war-games, while you can change your fortunes in an instant using collectable event cards. And besides the single-battle scenarios, a series of tutorial battles will help bring new wargamers up to speed.
“This is a new approach to hex-based war-fare, as there are things that a far-future army, air-force and navy can expect that even the highest-tech modern military can’t handle,” says CEO and Lead Designer Martin Cirulis. “It takes a little getting used to, when you’re in command of alien units that can literally burrow through the earth like moles to get in behind enemy lines…or when your field commanders have access to an orbital strike.”
With players getting to duking it out on water worlds and airless moons currently, what’s in store for the near future? COO and Producer Chris Stewart says Ground Pounders will expand relatively quickly. “We already have Human and the Hiver campaigns and skirmishes, so our next priority will be adding a campaign and scenario expansion for a third alien faction, the Tarkas. With it will come new units, cards and new Lore as well.”
Every opportunity will be used to expand the game further and give players more options each time they play. “We’ll continue to expand Ground Pounders throughout 2014,” says Cirulis. “Eventually we’d really like to give players an editing suite that would let them create their own content. We want the war-gamers out there to use our dev tools for the game and unleash their own creativity. I think every military science fiction buff has a future war they’d love to share with the world and Ground Pounders is a good way to do that.”
PC, Mac and Linux gamers can look for
Ground Pounders via Steam, Amazon, GamersGate, and
other fine online retailers. Android users can currently find the
game via the Google Store. iOS users will get their chance to fight
before the Summer is out.
