6th Annual New York Game Awards on 1/19 To Honor Richard
Garriott And More
For Immediate Release:
The 40 members of the New York Videogame Critics Circle are proud to announce the 6th Annual New York Game Awards on 1/19 will take place in Manhattan at the historic Abrons Art Center Playhouse. There, our New York writers and game developers from around the world will gather for a night of serious game honors - and merriment.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah hosts the show and writes the comedy. So expect some biting humor at the event that will be streaming live on Twitch on 1/19/17 beginning with the 7:15 p.m. East Coast Time. We'll begin with a critics panel moderated by Polygon's Samit Sarkar and then talk about the Circle's scholarship and mentoring work.
At 8 p.m., the New York Game Awards begin. We'll feature some surprise game premieres and honor Ultima creator and astronaut Richard Garriott, who'll be there to accept the Andrew Yoon Memorial Legend Award. Previous Legend Awards have gone to Rockstar Games and to Ralph Baer.
Live game-oriented music will be provided by The Main Squeeze Orchestra, an all-female accordion group which has provided the theme music for Steve Buscemi's "Park Bench" series.
Music for the after party will be provided by DJ duo Blood and Sand, who'll dive deep into a trance-oriented mashup of videogame themes.
Each day this week, the Circle will unveil Nominees for the New York Game Awards Categories.
Tickets can be had for a donation on Eventbrite. These donantions support our charitable endeavors around New York City.
Fans can watch the New York Game Awards on 1/19 on our Twitch Channel.
The New York Videogame Critics Circle was founded by long-time journalist and author Harold Goldberg. The group, first founded to advocate for its members, now works with the community to mentor and to distribute college scholarships. We also hold game-oriented panels, fireside chats and do keynotes during the course of the year.
