04/21/2010

[This unedited press release is made available courtesy of Gamasutra and its partnership with notable game PR-related resource GamesPress.]

21st April 2010: Get ready to explore the wonderful world of Earthworm Jim, as the Super Nintendo classic has had a loyal remake for Nintendo DSiWare. Prepare yourself for some facial squirming, as the inner camera can track your movements rewarding you with extra bonuses!

The Nintendo DSi Shop offerings this week don’t stop there, there’s much more on offer! Why not dig deep and search for the stolen goldfish in Flipper, or make and share your own postcards in myPostcards™. The famous Nintendo Game & Watch™ series has also expanded with Ball, Flagman and Donkey Kong Jr all making there way to you to download on DSiWare.

There are also new games to explore & download on your Wii too! Indiana Jones®' Greatest Adventures™ becomes available on Virtual Console, and in this non-stop action-adventure, you’ll find plenty to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Even more adventuring is waiting for you in the mysterious quest of The Will of Dr Frankenstein, available for download this week only on WiiWare.

A new feature goes live on the Wii Shop Channel this week! When you visit the channel, you will notice blue arrows on the opening screen allowing you to flip through a number of recommendation lists using your Wii Remote. Each list features titles of a certain theme and will be updated weekly - starting off with a selection of retro-style classics on WiiWare, games suited for the whole family and more.

Check the recommendations regularly to discover great games just for you!

NINTENDO DSiWare - EARTHWORM JIM

(Gameloft, 500 Nintendo DSi Points)

The grooviest action platformer, originally released on Super Nintendo, is back in a faithful remake enhanced with a never-before-seen feature, exclusively on Nintendo DSi.

Play as the coolest earthworm in the galaxy, and explore a crazy universe that offers huge gameplay possibilities. You can also earn bonuses for completing facial-expression-based challenges that track your face using the inner camera on your Nintendo DSi!

NINTENDO DSiWare - FLIPPER

(Xform, 500 Nintendo DSi Points)

The hero of the game is a courageous young boy. You must lead him through various worlds full of obstacles to retrieve his stolen goldfish called Flipper.

Get ready for a 3D puzzle platform game set over four different worlds, each with five levels. The game features beautiful pixel-art backdrops, cheerful cartoon characters and catchy music. The voxel engine technology allows you to change the environment with some cool power-ups. You can find power-ups that let you blast holes in the environment, build platforms, or restore parts you've previously destroyed. It's up to you to use the limited amount of power-ups wisely to complete each level.

Flipper is a fun and challenging puzzle game that is suitable for all ages.

NINTENDO DSiWare - myPostcards™

(Nnooo, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

Make your own postcards and send them to your friends. myPostcards allows you to take a photo, write a note and then save it as a postcard. Just pop open your Nintendo DSi snap a picture and get started.

You can even personalise your postcards by changing the background theme and stamps. With over 32 different unlockable lined and blank themes as well as many different stamps to collect you'll be able to create a postcard for any occasion.

Use the pen or pencil to write your notes or doodles and then erase the bits you don't like. With five ink colours you'll always be able to make your notes and doodles look stylish.

NINTENDO DSiWare - GAME & WATCH™

Experience a piece of Nintendo history with the Game & Watch series for Nintendo DSiWare. Each title is a perfect recreation of a classic LCD game from the early 1980s, including normal Game A and alternate Game B modes.

And no Game & Watch title would be complete without the "Watch" function - each title includes a fully functional clock.

GAME & WATCH™ BALL

(Nintendo, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

Ball was the first original Game & Watch ever to be produced. As a juggler (who we now know as Mr Game & Watch), you must keep the fragile balls up in the air for as long as possible, scoring points for each catch. Don't drop even one ball or it’s Game Over! Game A features two balls to juggle, Game B has three balls, each worth 10 points per catch.

GAME & WATCH™ FLAGMAN

(Nintendo, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

Next in the Game & Watch series, Flagman will challenge your memory and reflexes, as you try and remember a series of numbers in quick succession. In Game A, memorise the Flagman's sequence shown on his flags and on the bottom of his feet, within a set time. In Game B, repeat the number shown one at a time, but do it quickly.

GAME & WATCH™ DONKEY KONG JR.

(Nintendo, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

In Donkey Kong Jr., the great ape has been captured by Mario. As DK’s son, you must rescue your father by collecting keys to unlock his cage. Jump and climb, dodge crocodiles and birds, and make a well-timed leap to reach the swinging key. In Game B, enemies move faster, and the time Donkey Kong Jr. can hang onto vines is shorter.

VIRTUAL CONSOLE - INDIANA JONES®' GREATEST ADVENTURES™

(LucasArts, Super Nintendo, 800 Wii Points)

Grab your trusty whip and slash your way through all three Indy classics in this no-holds-barred adventure. If it happened in the movies, it happens here: the giant boulder from Raiders of the Lost Ark, the mine-cart chase from Temple of Doom, the three trials from Last Crusade, René Belloq and Colonel Vogel – it's three times the action, all in one fully loaded game.

WiiWare - THE WILL OF DR FRANKENSTEIN

(Enjoy Gaming ltd., 500 Wii Points).

You play Frankie, the hero of the story. Frankie is a young orphan who must help his great-great uncle, the professor Frankenstein, to build a strange machine. You will have much fun with the “Steampack”; a device which the professor gives you which enables you to suck up vaporites (strange clouds that keep destroying mechanical engines) and to unearth treasures.

As the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop are continually updated with exciting and refreshing games and applications, make sure you keep checking the Nintendo Channel, Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop for all the latest news and releases on already available and upcoming Virtual Console, WiiWare and Nintendo DSiWare titles.

Be sure to also check out Nintendo of Europe's WiiWare portal, which functions as the main hub for the latest WiiWare news and game sites, while at the same time providing the perfect entry point for newcomers to the service. Weekly and all-time Top 10 lists show which WiiWare titles the UK Club Nintendo members are currently downloading most, and which are the most popular of all time.

The portal also provides step-by-step tutorials explaining how to connect the Wii console to the Internet and how to download WiiWare games, as well as a video showing how to use Nintendo Points. Visit www.wiiware.co.uk for all the details. Downloaded games can be saved to Wii's internal memory or SD card and added to the console's Wii Menu or SD Card Menu for anytime easy access.
