Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Virtual world and MMO games specialist Virtual Fairground announced today the launch of its browser-based virtual world and MMO game development platform, The Ride.

The Ride enables reliable and rapid development of advanced and scalable 3D Flash-based virtual worlds and MMO games at a fraction of the cost usually associated with these types of products and services. Virtual Fairground has spend over 2 years developing this proprietary technology and design platform after raising US 4 million in venture capital in 2008.

“Creating Triple A quality, highly-scalable virtual worlds and multiplayer online game experiences is an enormously time-consuming and costly process if you want it done right”, says Ilja Goossens of Virtual Fairground. “That is why we created this technology and platform. It covers things such a communication between players, account management, moderation, soft and hard currency economies, shops, item handling, localization, server infrastructure, quests, mini-game implementation, achievements… basically everything you need to create a compelling game-based virtual world or MMO Lite.

Besides that, our technology is 100% tailored towards high-quality, browser-based experiences without the need for a client download. We believe this where the future is for virtual worlds and MMOs and this is what makes The Ride unique.

Virtual Fairground ( www.virtualfairground.com) recently launched a major update to its own flagship Flash-based virtual world and MMO Lite Club Galactik ( www.clubgalactik.com) that showcases the latest features of its platform.

“We are entertainment producers first and technology developers second”, says Ilja Goossens. “We just realized that in order to create multiple, high-quality MMOs and virtual worlds in a browser cost-effectively and quickly we would need to create the technology ourselves. We understand what the technology needs are for an entertainment developer because we are one ourselves.”
