More about Shattered Horizon Premium Edition

What’s new since the original game was released? More levels, more weapons, more communication, more set-up options, more gameplay control

1. More Levels

The original game launched with four levels, one multifunctional assault rifle and 3 grenade types. After two months of closed beta testing, the Moonrise Map pack was released for free to all players. The map pack contained four completely new levels, doubling the total number of levels in the game from 4 to 8. All the design lessons learned from 3 months of watching people play the game were applied to ensure that each of new levels provided a new zero gravity experience. The levels featured indoor areas for the first time.

2. More Weapons

After more closed beta testing, the Firepower Weapons pack was released for free to all players. The pack added a range of new weapons and grenades. Answering one of the most contentious design points off the original game, the single multifunctional weapon was replaced with a choice of five primary weapons: Railgun, Machinegun, Assault Rifle, SMG and Shotgun. Players had three sidearms: Pistol, Grenade Pistol and Moon Mining Pick and also had three new tactical grenades to use: Flare, Pulse and Decoy. All weapons had “iron sights” added that players could use for greater aiming precision.

3. More Communication

Added in game voice chat support – the most popular request on our community driven support site - offering talk to team, talk to all, player muting and global disable. Added an improved ranking system which featured 50 new experience ranks better tailored to both new and existing players. The previous system had only 10 levels and progression was too quick for experienced players. Added in-game chat history.

4. More Set-up options

A dedicated server package was released for Shattered Horizon so that communities could set up the game the way they wished. GUI for creating custom level rotations, game settings and player limits. Custom server name, graphic and information URL. Optional password protection for private matches. Configurable auto-team balancing, auto-kick / ban for team-killers and high-ping connections, Built-in anti-cheat detection with configurable auto-kick / ban. Support for VAC. Registered servers can submit player stats and achievements to the official leaderboards). Added a Melee Only (MO) option to server configuration in response to player requests. Server browser list now refreshed every few seconds. LAN game support.

5. More Gameplay control

Added a number of new control options so that players could set up the controls the way it best suited them to play. Changed the colour of the EMP lightning effect on players and the gun from blue to white to reduce team confusion when MCC (yellow) players are EMPed. MPR grenades were made more effective against flying targets to boost their effectiveness.

Added server limits to restrict player access to players above, below or between configurable point thresholds with the limits appearing in the server browser Rules column. This allowed the creation of “newbie” servers that would provide a safer starting place for new players.

All new content is free to download. All additions and improvements to the actual gameplay from feedback and discussion with players on our forums/community support site.

Shattered Horizon Premium Edition is exclusively available in high street and online stores for 27th August.
