Red Faction Armageddon Motion Capture Video Released

[This unedited press release is made available courtesy of Gamasutra and its partnership with notable game PR-related resource GamesPress.]

Most great heroes wear tights. Now tights may not seem like an appropriate fit on the ravaged surface of Mars for Darius Mason in Red Faction: Armageddon, but for the motion-capture actor recording his movements, they fit just fine.

Using the industry’s most sophisticated full-performance motion capture equipment, Volition and Pendulum Studios  teamed to create the action packed cinematics in Red Faction: Armageddon. The proprietary facial performance capture rigs, real-time camera capture and visualization system, and full sound stage help the actors bring Mars to live.

This full performance capture allows the actors to fit cohesively into the game world.  A character’s voice, body, and face are all driven by one actor, as opposed to two or three actors often used in other games.  Instead of being confined in a small sound booth, actors work together on a stage, resulting in an authentic performance you can see right here on the attached videos.
