London – 17 th November, 2011 - PlayJam, the world’s leading TV games platform, announces a collaboration with Philips’ uWand, a direct pointing and 3D gesture control technology, to enhance casual gaming on Smart TV.

Developed by Philips, uWand is the next generation remote control technology; a direct pointing and 3D gesture control technology also known as ‘remote touch’. When embedded in remote controls, it gives users fluid and accurate direct pointing and 3D gesture control on multiple electronic devices with the same intuitiveness as a multi-touch screen.

PlayJam will integrate support for uWand technology within its SDK to support its games service operating across all major smart TV platforms worldwide. Both companies will work together to maximise the potential of direct pointing and gesture-based gaming on Smart TV devices, providing content developers with the opportunity to create immersive and interactive content on the next generation of TV's.

"We are delighted to be working with Philips’ uWand technology, one of the world's leading innovators in this space," says Anthony Johnson, Commercial Director at PlayJam.  "uWand's accurate pointing and quicker cursor navigation combined with its ability to recognise simple, subtle 3D gestures provides a step change in the way users can interact with PlayJam like no other controller technology.”

Adds Navin Natoewal, General Manager, Philips uWand. “The combination of PlayJam’s content in their TV games platform and our accurate direct pointing technology allows us to offer and deliver real revenue benefits to Smart TV providers.”

PlayJam's turnkey games solution provides consumers worldwide with easy access to an extensive library of casual and social games via millions of connected devices. The company recently announced $5 million investment from GameStop Digital Ventures, Adobe Ventures and Endeavour Ventures to fuel further growth, capitalizing on the rapidly expanding connected TV market.
