Ivan Verde - lead product manager at ZeptoLab.
ZeptoLab is a global gaming company dedicated to the science of fun. It all started back in 2010 with just two people and one monster - the cheerful green Om Nom, whose biggest passion are candies. Since then, Cut the Rope games have been downloaded more than 750 million times, and the team consists of more than 100 enthusiastic employees in London, Moscow and Barcelona offices.
Few months ago, ZeptoLab released its first VR project — “Where’s Om Nom?”. It’s a hidden object game where players need to find the little monster from Cut the Rope series. Today we want to share our experience of adapting the classic genre to 3D.
The last Friday of every quarter is a special day at ZeptoLab. Everyone puts aside their current tasks, cancels all meetings and gather in teams to make the most ambitious and crazy ideas come true. We call it Creative Jam Day.
Any time you start thinking about designing a sequel, the first question you ask yourself is: how is it going to differ from the previous part? It was quite a challenge to add a fresh note to the already many-sided Cut the Rope gameplay.
