Nick Hagger's Blog

 

Nick is a co-founder of Robot Circus, and the studio's Creative Director.

Before working in games, Nick spent a decade working in the non-profit sector, designing innovative solutions for service delivery to vulnerable young people. Always a gamer, Nick stayed creative by writing award winning table top RPGs through this period. Transitioning to the video-game industry in the mid-90s, Nick joined the start-up developer Blue Tongue Entertainment taking on design and production roles. Nick has lead multiple large game development teams and is known for his ability to create compelling gameplay, characters and worlds. He has lead the creative vision for a number of award winning games, including QED: Cosmo’s Casebook (winner of the 2014 ATOM Award for Best Game); He was also the Creative Director on the Wii game de Blob, which was nominated for a BAFTA in 2009.

Many game developers shy away from real-world politics in their virtual worlds, but taking inspiration from contemporary politics, history, and culture can make narratives richer, deeper, and more compelling.
