Oliver Snyders's Blog
I've playing and reading about games my entire life, which has led me on a journey to understand videogames at a much deeper level by making games of my own, selling them at a retail store, and writing and reviewing them professionally, which gave me the chance to visit international shows like E3 and Gamescom multiple years in a row to speak with the developers and producers behind the games.
During this time, I even wrote an in-depth feature for Gamasutra detailing the current state of the game development scene in my home country of South Africa. Outdated now, but still relevant in a few ways:
The South African Game Development Scene: Past, Present, and Future
All of this knowledge and accumulated insight has been injected into my first book, A Gamer's Guide to Gaming, which skims across the surface of the industry to introduce newcomers to the world of videogames, before diving real, real deep into current trends, future developments, and the inner-workings of what makes a game tick.
