Vincent Nativo's Blog
In 2019 I ended a 21 year career in Financial I.T. to pursue my dream of engaging in something more creative. I first attempted to write fiction but found my mind always wondering back towards game ideas rather than novel ideas, so I changed tact and chose to run with games instead. Given my main body of experience lies in project planning, management and ownership it seemed a natural progression to enter the game space as a producer.
I also have a couple of other arrows in my quiver in that I enjoy programming and scripting as well as engaging in more creative disciplines like narration and design. These are more creative outlets and I think it's important for a producer to expose themselves to multiple aspects of game development since they need to be across all the disciplines. To that end I have been teaching myself Unity and Unreal (see concept/tech demos). I have also have my own game ideas that are also documented on this site.
I have had a life long passion for video games and have witnessed and enjoyed every evolution and breakthrough of game design and game genre since the 80s.
I hold a degree in Computer Science and have held many roles during my career so far which include coding, technical design, testing, management, business analysis, planning, scheduling, product ownership and scrum master. I believe a lot of the skills I have honed over the years can help me transition to the video game industry as a producer. I see the role of producer as the marriage between the logical and the creative. The planned and the spontaneous. The pragmatist and the dreamer. I believe I can find the balance between all these things.
I identify as a cisgender male and prefer the pronouns he/him.
