Description: Immersion Vision Imaging System (IVIS):

Concept of the Invention - To surround the viewer with an image

A family of devices and algorithms working together to provide a unique image capture, generation and display system

Immersion Vision is an amazing imaging system that captures a 360 degree field of view horizontally and 240 degrees vertically that displays these images on a screen that immerses the viewer.

Immersion Vision captures the images traditionally onto a flat plane; there is no stitching together of images required, and no algorithms are needed to correct image distortion. The image physically captured by the lens is the same image displayed on the immersive viewing screen, no manipulation of the image is needed.

The capture and re-display of images using the specific shapes, of the lens and display surfaces of this system, result in the viewer receiving a uniform density of image across the entire field of view.

In simple terms, envision holding a hoola hoop about you such that your arms are angled 30 degrees downward from the horizon (eye level), the entire image you now see above the hoola hoop is the field of view of the images captured and displayed with this system.

The Immersion Vision lens configuration has the same field of view 360 x 240 as seen above the hoola hoop.

An advantage IVIS has over all other imaging systems available is the ability to immerse the viewier horizontally and vertically. While many image display systems display a 360 degree image horizontally, none immerse the viewer vertically, and IVIS displays a 240 degree field of view measured vertically.

Immersion Vision is a complete imaging system consisting of image capture, image display and also inclusive of algorithms which convert XYZ Cartesian coordinates to display as a three dimensional environment on the immersive screen.

The images captured with the Immersion Vision Lens are displayed on the surface of a screen that surrounds the viewer, providing 66 times more visual information on this immersive screen compared to the information displayed on a traditional monitor.
