After leaving its 1up.com network, former Ziff Davis executives and editors have raised $1.5 of an expected $3 million in investments for What They Like, a new family-focused gaming reviews/community website, according to a new report.
Private equity news outlet PEHub has noted
that the company, What They Like Inc., has raised the capital. former Ziff Davis business development VP and 1up.com general manager Ira Becker is the CEO of the new company.
Ziff Davis announced in August
that the organization's former senior VP and editorial director John Davison (pictured) had also stepped down to co-found the new company, also announced at the time
by 1up.com itself.
While little on the new What They Like site has yet been announced, rumors circulating at the time of Davison's departure were corroborated by 1up in calling it a "family-friendly project" geared toward parents, the titular 'They' presumably referring to the target audience's children.
