3D middleware developer Allegorithmic has announced that the Futuremark Games Studio has chosen its ProFX texturing solution for the development of its first original IP next-gen game.
Futuremark says it chose ProFX and its authoring companion MaPZone for their ability to rapidly author high-quality textures with maximum control. Futuremark is best known for its 3D benchmark tool 3DMark, and recently announced
its expansion into game development.
Allegorithmic claims the non-linear authoring process behind ProFX enables game studios to produce texture assets up to two times faster than with regular techniques. Additionally, ProFX procedural texture files are very small in size, which Allegorithmic says suits them for use in massively multiplayer online games, virtual communities, casual, and downloadable games.
Futuremark Games Studio executive producer Dr. Jukka Mškinen commented, "Allegorithmic has given us a new technology that increases our capabilities to create fantastic new worlds. The combination of their people and technology enables our team to work more efficiently while we invent the kind of game play that people really want."
