Microsoft's recent Xbox 360 price cuts in Europe are bearing fruit -- the console's now reached six million units sold in the region.
"We're very excited that more consumers in Europe are joining the ever-growing Xbox 360 community," said Chris Lewis, VP for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Biz in the European regions.
Earlier this month, Microsoft reduced the price
of each Xbox 360 SKU by about $54, bringing the prices to £129.99, £169.99 and £229.99 for the Arcade, Premium and Elite models respectively -- two of the models lower in price than the £179.99 Wii.
Microsoft hopes to continue the momentum with a "launch-level" European ad campaign that launches this week, highlighting future developments for the console such as the unveiling of the new dashboard and titles like Lips, Scene It?, You're In The Movies
and Fable II
"We're now the best-value next-gen console on the market with an entry-level ERP of £129.99, and consumers have clearly responded to that offering," Lewis says.
