Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has become the fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time, according to a release from LucasArts, with the title selling 1.5 million copies globally across six platforms in the first five days of sale.

LucasArts also notes that the company manufactured and shipped 4.3 million copies of the title but "unprecedented demand" for the title has already led to the company reprinting the title, which is available on the Xbox 360, Wii, DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PSP systems.

The Xbox 360/PS3 version of the game was developed internally by LucasArts in San Francisco, while Australia's Krome Studios handled the PS2/PSP/Wii edition, and Florida's n-Space developed the DS edition. All editions were released September 16 in North America, September 17 in Australia and Southeast Asia, and September 19 in Europe. The game has yet to go on sale in Japan.

This comes on the heels of the announcement that the game's demo was the fastest ever to reach the one million download mark, which occurred in just eight days. Demand may also have been increased by the inclusion of The Force Unleashed's protagonist in Namco Bandai's Soulcalibur IV, which took the number six and nine slots in NPD sales with its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions in July.

The title is also accompanied by a novel published by Del Rey, which has become a New York Times number one bestseller, and has also been followed by popular toys and games from Lego, Hasbro, and Wizards of the Coast.

"The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including video games," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts.
