Ubisoft has acquired Brazilian independent developer Southlogic Studios, a team of 20 who's developed for the publisher on its Imagine line of games for girls, most recently with Imagine: Wedding Designer on Nintendo DS.
Southlogic, established in 1996, also has developed for PC, portable and home consoles, worked with publishers in Japan, America and Europe, and has also provided art and outsourcing services. Other previous projects include Trophy Hunter 2003 and Deer Hunter 2004 and 2005.
Ubisoft says it'll incorporate its new acquisition into its Sao Paulo location. Southlogic's management will report to Ubisoft Brazil managing director Bertrand Chaverot, but maintain its Porto Alegre-based facility as a "satellite office."
No details were provided as to the studio's current projects, but Southlogic founder Christian Lykawka specifically noted that the Imagine line of games is the core of the companies' collaboration.
"The entire Southlogic team is excited about the potential for growth and development as part of Ubisoft Sao Paulo and having our creations reach players throughout the world," Lykawka said.
