Representatives from independent publisher and developer GarageGames have announced the session highlights and speakers for the fourth annual Independent Games Conference (otherwise known as IndieGamesCon, or simply IGC), which is due to run from October 7th to 9th in Eugene, Oregon.

The event will feature a keynote address called "The State of the Revolution" by GarageGames president Mark Frohnmayer. The event as a whole is aimed at professional and hobbyist developers keen to create commercial games, with other speakers including Melv May on 2D game design, Ill Clan on machinima, John Welsh and Dave Nixon on the casual gaming industry, Thomas Buscaglia on legal issues, Ageia on the future of game physics, Ryan Gordon on Mac OS X game development and Microsoft on Xbox development.

IGC 2005 also aims to be a platform for the independent game development community to demonstrate their creations, while they learn about next generation technologies and helpful topics for game developers spread out over five different break-out tracks. These cover topics such as animation and lighting for artists, marketing and legal issues for the business side of gaming and development techniques from seasoned game programmers.

"Game developers want to get back to their roots of talking about game development," said Jeff Tunnell, GarageGames founder, "Since the beginning, IGC has always been about meeting the needs of the small, self-funded indie game developer." More information on the conference is available at its official website.
