In one of today's main Gamasutra features, we are proud to present GDCTV, a special feature showcasing streaming high-quality video content of some of the notable sessions of last year's Game Developers Conference and Serious Games Summit.

This episode of GDCTV features "Machinima: Using Games to Change Filmmaking and Instructional Video" from last year's Serious Games Summit, as Paul Marino, an award-winning Machinima director and designer, discusses how games are changing the nature of animation and filmmaking, and how machinima techniques can be useful for instructional environments, serious game development, and the education of next-generation filmmakers. The part of the description is as follows:

"...Machinima is real-world filmmaking techniques applied within an interactive virtual space where characters and events can be either controlled by humans, scripts or artificial intelligence. By combining the techniques of filmmaking, animation production and the technology of real-time 3D game engines, Machinima makes for a very cost and time efficient way to produce films, with a large amount of creative control.

You can now learn more about the GDCTV presentation and click through to watch it in high quality streaming video, including sychronized slides where appropriate.
