As part of a video interview with game weblog Kotaku due to debut in full next week, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed new information on the company's Wii next-gen console, including possible plans for Wii/DS connectivity.

According to the Mario creator, the technology to support the DS and Wii communication is already built into the console, and will presumably be completely wireless (unlike the intriguing, but somewhat unwieldy wired GameCube to Game Boy Advance connection used in games such as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.)

Though nothing has been built out yet, some of the ideas that Miyamoto and his team at Nintendo are considering including "using the touch screen and microphone input from the DS to affect Wii gameplay", and "downloading content from your Wii to your DS, editing it, and then uploading it back to the console", according to the report.

The plan would be to roll out some kind of this connectivity on or close to Wii launch, since the DS is especially popular right now, but no certain date was cited - Miyamoto was similarly vague on the Wii launch pricing and date specifics, but did indicate that the announcement will certainly occur before September's Tokyo Game Show, echoing similar comments by Satoru Iwata.
