The organizers of Game Developers Conference 2007
have confirmed that Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto will make a rare public appearance at March's event, presenting his first GDC keynote since 1999.
Miyamoto, Nintendo’s Senior Managing Director and General Manager, Entertainment Analysis & Development Division, will present the talk, “A Creative Vision" on Thursday March 8 at 10.30 during the weeklong GDC at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
According to GDC organizers, Miyamoto's talk "...will reveal how a singular creative vision drives his work, not only in terms of his world-renowned software like the Super Mario Bros
. and Legend of Zelda
series, but also in generating key technologies, including the current global phenomena, Nintendo DS and Wii."
This keynote is added to other recently confirmed
Nintendo lectures at GDC 2007, with Eiji Aonuma discussing the Zelda
franchise and a rare appearance from Mario
composer Koji Kondo, making for significant Nintendo representation at the show (which is operated by the CMP Game Group, also owners of Gamasutra.com).
These latest additions to the event's line-up follow other lectures announced earlier last week
, including Tsutomu Kouno presenting a postmortem of LocoRoco, Castlevania's Koji 'Iga' Igarashi discussing the 'Light and Darkness of 2D Gaming', and Id boss Todd Hollenshead talking on games and the piracy problem.
