More: Console/PC

OTEE has announced that its 3D authoring and engine package, Unity, will by the end of 2007 support game creation on the Nintendo Wii, adding to its PC, Mac, and web browser support.

OTEE says that by combining the game creation tool with a console that "opens up many new modes of gaming," developers will be empowered like never before.

Unity, says the company, "invites experimentation and playful game construction," and allows developers to create functional prototypes in a matter of hours, as well as includes tools to scale up development to the game's master.

The engine, currently in use by commercial developers like Codemasters and Freeverse, as well as in the serious games community for games like Global Conflicts: Palestine, combines optimized graphics and rendering effects, Ageia's PhysX, Javascript and C# scripting, and native support for formats ranging from Maya, Blender, Photoshop and nearly all image and audio formats.

More information on the addition of Wii support, as well as business and technical details are expected later in the year.

Said OTEE CEO David Helgason, "This is the product combo of our dreams. Ever since it was announced we've longed to give game developers access to the sheer creative fun of the Nintendo Wii."
