Representatives from French developer GPU-Tech have announced that RTSquare, its GPU based rendering plugin with new shader technology and faster rendering speeds, is now available for 3DSMax 9 in both simple and double precision.

With RTSquare's GPU-programming technology, all of GPU-Tech's applications run on the graphic card in both simple and double precision, which the company says reduces computing time by up to 100.

GPU-Tech's RTSquare boasts a new shader technology and the ability to increase rendering speeds by as much as 10 to 50 percent by taking advantage of a PC's graphics card, provided the card is pixel shader 2.0 compatible.

The latest version of RTSquare, 1.3 was updated in October 2006 to include new features such as render elements and area lights, as well as improved global illumination, motion blur, area lights, blurry reflections, render elements, a new more intuitive interface, and real time camera preview.

A free version of RTSquare for 3DSMax 6, 7, and 8 are also available for download on the GPU-Tech website, with the newest 3DSMax 9 version completing the series. The product is also compatible with AutoDesk VIZ and Maya and development is ongoing for other 3D studios.
